I am now living in the DC metro area. Things have been pretty crazy since last I blogged on this site. I went home to Michigan for a few days, came out to DC to go on job interviews, get an apartment and now I live here.
Since I was fired, the outpouring was absolutely amazing. I heard from veterans of CNY broadcasting, I heard from people who doCHR radio all over the country. It was all very supportive and understanding. I thank you all.
But the reason I have decided to move is that I just want to work my way up in a place I want to be. The radio paradigm that I always have adhered to is that you do well in small markets, in order to move up to big markets. I thought that is the way it worked, but that certainly hasn't been the case for me. I could not have done any more or been any more successful in Flint. It got me into Detroit for a minute, but not anything else. Meanwhile, I have seen part timers at large market stations get several jobs at other largearket stations, and I had no chance.
